Twenty years ago, the State Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan was solemnly opened in our capital. The new modern building organically fit into the architectural ensemble of this part of Ashgabat, compiling a single complex with the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan. Both buildings are connected by an underground gallery of the Academy with a rotunda upstairs. It looks beautiful and meaningful.

On the occasion of the anniversary, the museum is deployed an exhibition. Museum specialists creatively approached the disclosure of the topic, trying to highlight all the directions of exhibits stored here. Thus, the exhibition opens with paintings by folk artists of Turkmenistan, including works of Durdy Bayramov’s "Youth", Evgenia Abramova’s "On holiday", Izzat Klychev’s "Lala", Aman Amangeldiyev’s "Shepherds", Aykhan Hadjiev’s "The Past and Future of the desert" and others. Bright and optimistic paintings reliably convey the stages of the Turkmen people's life.

It should be noted that the museum's storerooms contain exhibits dating back to the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. Among them is the painting "Camel Caravan" by Richard Sommer, the work of 1925 - "Still Life" by an unknown author and the lithograph "Nazar Yumudsky".

The painting exhibition is completed by paintings of contemporary artists.

In addition to paintings, the exhibition features antique tapestries, small sculptures, and ceramic products. Among the sculptures, the works of Jumamukhammet Jumaniyazov "The Young Wife" and Bayram Annagulyev’s "Turkmenistan" attract special attention. The ceramic exhibition features works by Solmaz Mukhamedova, Maral Atayeva, Gulyara Babayeva and young talented ceramicists.

But perhaps the most original exhibit is more than 200 photographs that capture interesting moments from the life of the museum staff – meetings with artists, the opening of exhibitions, and other significant events.
During the opening ceremony of the exhibition dedicated to the anniversary of the museum, its best employees were awarded honorary letters.
