Today, in the state museums of Dashoguz, visitors can get acquainted with many valuable and even historically important archaeological finds. During these school holidays, students get acquainted with valuable relics found on the territory of the velayat.
One of such interesting archaeological finds that attracts their attention and was discovered earlier during excavations on the territory of the state historical and cultural reserve "Koneurgench" is a part of an ancient metal mirror. The approximate date of its manufacture has not yet been established, but the copper base of the product indicates its ancient origin. On the reverse side of the piece of metal, only 2.05 millimeters thick, there is a convex image of a round flower.
According to experts, mirrors made from polished copper appeared in the world a long time ago. As a rule, in the old days, their back side was covered with a relief ornament. It was believed that it served as a symbol protecting its owner from the influence of evil forces.
The wide distribution of hand mirrors, among other goods, which were of considerable value at that time, was largely facilitated by the Great Silk Road.
Mirrors of various forms of preservation were found in different periods of time in other regions of our country. A considerable part of them are made of an alloy based on copper. Schoolchildren are very pleased to get acquainted with such relics, and through them with the history of their native land.
