A personal exhibition of works by artist Orazgylych Ovezov has been organized at the Exhibition Center of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan to mark his 65th birthday.
Interestingly, instead of a self-portrait, the first exhibit greeting visitors is a sculpture of Ovezov by Charymyrat Amanov. The sculpture depicts the artist seated on a chair, evaluating his new creation with a professional gaze.
Orazgylych presented around 150 original works at the exhibition. Approximately half are portraits created with pencil or paint, reflecting his mentorship under Durdy Bayramov, a renowned portraitist and People's Artist of Turkmenistan. Over decades, Orazgylych Ovezov has crafted portraits of relatives, friends, and acquaintances, resulting in a gallery showcasing faces of various ages and characters.
The other half consists of pictorial paintings primarily created in the past five years, during which the artist embraced expressionism. One notable work in this style is the still life "Flower Pot with Aloe," which received widespread acclaim.
The still life "Two Peaches and a Glass" attracts with its elegant simplicity, and we see the same technique of depiction in the painting "Cold Landscape."
The painting "Village" is almost submerged in warm terracotta color, interrupted in several places by emerald tree crowns. All this is beautiful and creates a pleasant mood for viewers. Orazgylych Ovezov manages to see this beauty, enhancing certain aspects.
In some of his paintings, falling snow is depicted, which transforms familiar landscapes and snow-covered objects forgotten by their owners in the yard. It creates the impression that during snowy weather, Orazgylych Ovezov is not to be found at home; he goes in search of new themes and does not return home without a notebook filled with sketches.
We wish the jubilee strong health and look forward to his new beautiful works.
