Joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council of Turkmenistan

President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the National Security Council. The important issues of the state policy were discussed and the drafts of documents were considered during the joint meeting.

The Vice Premiers reported on the activities related to the rise of monthly salary by 10 percent and pensions by 15 percent from January 1, 2013, financing the design and construction of the East-West gas pipeline and its ground support systems, on the preparations for large-scale events to held in near future and measures taken for developing the national media, on the progress in implementing the sectoral programmes on developing large-scale investment projects, including in the oil and gas sector and chemical industry.

In particular, the Turkmen leader was informed on the progress of works on developing the Galkynysh gas deposit in Mary Velayat, and implementing the projects in the Caspian Sea with participation of foreign companies and corporations operating in the oil and gas industry.

The Vice Premiers also reported on the complex events taking place within the framework of the General Plan for developing the railway transport sector of Turkmenistan for 2012-2016, the preparations for opening the Department of Military Medicine at the Turkmen State Medical University, and the National Day of Turkmenistan within the framework of the EXPO-2012World Exhibition.

Commenting on the reports Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the rise in the standard of living of the local population served as the most important task of the social policy of the Turkmen state.

Underlining that modernization of the material and technical basis of all branches of the national economy was a key aspect of the state policy of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen leader approved in general the proposals. Signing the decree “On construction of the high-quality modern communication systems of the Ashgabat- Bereket-Turkmenbashi railway”, the President of Turkmenistan instructed the relevant officials to take fulfillment of this document under the rigorous control.

The Chairman of the State Customs Service reported on the existing situation in the sectors under his supervision, and the measures taken to ensure control of the traffic flow crossing the border of Turkmenistan, including the traffic in transit.

The Head of the State Border Guard Service informed the President of Turkmenistan on the progress in drafting the project on construction of a complex of buildings for the Border Guard Service. In particular, the projects of an administrative building of the State Border Guard Service of Turkmenistan, the Border Institute of Turkmenistan, four five-storey apartment houses and objects of the supply battalion of the State Border Guard Service were submitted to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General of the Army of Turkmenistan for consideration. The total area of the complex will be 17 hectares.

The Chairman of the Supreme Court reported on the work of the State Commission for consideration of citizens’ appeals on the work of the law enforcement agencies under President of Turkmenistan.

Head of the State Service on Drugs of Turkmenistan reported on measures taken to prevent the distribution of drugs in our country.

During the meeting President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave the specific instructions to Vice Premiers and the heads of ministers and departments.

The other important issues of the state policy were discussed and a number of the relevant documents and decisions were adopted during the government meeting. were considered during the joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council.
