President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has arrived in Brazil with a working visit to take part in the Rio+20UN Conference on Sustainable Development.
After an hours-long flight, the President’s airliner landed at the Galeao International Airport in Rio de Janeiro. The officials representing the receiving party as well as representatives of the Mission of Turkmenistan to the United Nations cordially welcomed President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the airport.

The programme of the visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Brazil is very rich. Within the framework of the visit the Turkmen leader will take part in the conference and hold a number of important bilateral meetings.
A wide range of issues related to such priority vectors of the international agenda as new global political commitments in the sphere of sustainable development will be discussed during the conference. The other important topic for discussions will be development of principles of the ‘green’ economy: ecological modernization of industries and development of renewable energy, distributive economic growth, control of the use and institutionalization of the ‘green’ economy, as well reformation of the public administration in the interest of the global sustainable development.
Moreover, it is planned to attract attention and, probably, develop the ways of addressing new problems aroused within the last years, including creation of ‘green’ jobs, sustainable development of cities, food security, efficient use of water resources, as well as the readiness to withstand natural disasters.
As is known speaking at the 66th session of the UN General Assembly, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed to organize the Caspian Environment Forum as a permanent body to deal with environmental issues in the Caspian basin, as well as to make appropriate proposals and recommendations, and specialized institution - the UN Interregional Center to address issues related to climate change underlining that Turkmenistan would provide all necessary infrastructure in the capital of Turkmenistan - Ashgabat for its functioning. This initiative was reflected in the “Positions of Turkmenistan at the Rio+20 UN Conference on Sustainable Development”.
During the conference the President of Turkmenistan will announce the approaches of neutral Turkmenistan to addressing the urgent problems of the modern times and the international initiatives of our country aimed at strengthening the ecological safety, creating favourable conditions for universal sustainable development.
These initiatives will vividly prove the willingness of the Turkmen side to deepening and enhancing constructive cooperation in the UN format given the interests of the humanity and the Millennium Global Goals.
