The creative staff of the Turkmen National Youth Theatre named after Alp Arslan staged a new production – performance “Gumly gelin” (“A Bride from the Desert”).
This story about love started unusually –due to slyness of the neighbor Chebshek, who wishing her successful marriage, disseminated the rumor that a single woman found a treasure in the desert. Artful plan worked and suitors turned towards Chebshek to propose marriage but she rejected all insincere pretenders of her heart. According to the plot, nevertheless, she found her real sweetheart. According to the neighbor’s words, the woman found in the desert was as good as gold and was a real treasure for him. Truly, everyone has own half on the Earth. Those, who find it, live long and happily.
Production director, Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Handurdy Berdiyev tells: “We began to stage the play “A Bride from the Desert” with great pleasure, in spite of the fact that principal character is an ordinary middle-aged woman, living in a small village in the Garagum desert. It would seem what connection can be here with the youth topic – “major” for our theatre? But, it is the plot of the performance that serves as precept for the youth! Since, it is the story about human with bright soul and pure intention. To talk with him, be filled with his thoughts and worry about his fate means yourself to become more kind and noble.
Moreover, the desert what we talked about in the play absolutely differs from one, which lives in our imagination so far. A powerful water reservoir is constructed not far from the village, where events of the performance take place. In the course of actions of the performance, noise of bulldozers is heard from time to time. The desert turns into the garden. It was accurately reflected in the theatre set design by production designer Mekan Annamuradov. Owing to care of human hands, the seedlings took roots well and the village – future oasis in the desert, turned green.
Viewers warmly welcomed the new production of the cheerful and musical performance with ceaseless applauses, keeping favorite characters on the stage. Such estimation of the first spectators predicts long life of the performance “A Bride from the Desert” in the repertoire of the theatre.
