Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan consultations

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held political consultations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan in the videoconference format.  Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, M. Tleuberdi represented the Republic of Kazakhstan at the meeting.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the positive experience of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international and regional structures, in particular the UN, CIS, ECO and others. In this context, the parties expressed  mutual willingness to continue joint work both in bilateral and multilateral formats.

Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the Caspian Sea. The parties exchanged views on the possibilities for expanding partnership, in particular, in the transport and transit sector with the use of port infrastructure. This year, Turkmenistan will host the VI Summit of the Heads of the Caspian states. In this regard, proposals were made to optimize the agenda of the Summit. The issues of cooperation in the field of ecology, including the Aral Sea problem, were also discussed.

Meeting participants discussed the preparatory work for the next consultative meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. The parties expressed interest in developing joint initiatives to use the great potential of Central Asia and neighboring regions. In this context, it was underlined the importance of expanding partnership, including on the platform of the Economic Cooperation Organization.

The diplomats considered the issues of deepening cooperation in the fuel and energy, transport, logistics and industrial sectors. An interest was expressed in developing partnerships in science, education, healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

On the outcomes of the meeting, the 2021-2023 Programme of Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
