The President of Turkmenistan signed a Decree on pardoning convicts
Guided by the principles of mercy and humanism bequeathed by our great ancestors, in order to further strengthen the unity and cohesion of Turkmen society and every family, and on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the independence of Turkmenistan, the President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the Decree «On the pardon of convicted on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the independence of Turkmenistan», freeing the pardoned citizens of our country from further serving the main sentence of imprisonment, as well as from the additional punishment of being required to live in a certain area.

Guided by the principles of humanism and virtue of our ancestors, based on adherence to generally recognized international norms for the protection of human rights and freedoms, taking into account the right of people to freely choose citizenship, as well as in accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan «On Citizenship of Turkmenistan», the President of Turkmenistan signed the Decree «On Admission to citizenship of Turkmenistan» deciding to accept a group of persons permanently residing in the territory of our country, who do not have citizenship, into the citizenship of Turkmenistan.

Desert ecosystems of Turkmenistan are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List
On September 20, 2023, during the 45th session of the World Heritage Committee being held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudia Arabia, "Bereketli Garagum", "Gaplangyr", "Repetek" and "Yeradzhi" unique desert ecosystems of Turkmenistan are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, as a part of transnational serial nomination "Cold Winter Deserts of Turan" jointly presented by Turkmenistan, Republic of Kazakhstan and Republic of Uzbekistan.
