Turkmenistan advocates the creation of a humanitarian hub to assist countries facing social crises

Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice President for Medical Affairs of the Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, proposed the creation of a flexible global support platform in the form of a humanitarian hub to assist countries facing conflicts, natural disasters, migration flows, or social crises.

On December 10, the Vice President of the Charitable Foundation delivered a speech at the International Conference “The Role of Women in Modern Society: Developing International Cooperation on the Path to Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”, held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.

Presenting the proposal to establish a humanitarian hub, Oguljahan Atabayeva noted that it could perform several functions simultaneously.

“This includes medical and psychological assistance to women and children, including rehabilitation after trauma and stress. It also includes educational programs and safe learning spaces so that children do not lose access to education during crises. It is social and legal support for women, the protection of rights, and assistance in difficult life circumstances, as well as emergency humanitarian aid, food, temporary accommodation, and access to mobile medical teams,” explained Oguljahan Atabayeva.

According to the Vice President of the Charitable Foundation, a key part of the initiative is the creation of a unified international coordination platform bringing together the efforts of UNICEF, WHO, UNDP, major charitable foundations, and public organizations.

“In addition, humanitarian hubs can become not only centers of assistance but also spaces for cooperation, exchange of experience, and specialist training, forming a global humanitarian framework that responds more quickly to crises and makes support for women and children systematic rather than occasional,” said Oguljahan Atabayeva.
