Employment tools and labor market prospects in 2026

As part of the implementation of the Concept for the Development of the Labor Market of Turkmenistan until 2030, approved by a Decree of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population continues to introduce modern digital solutions. A key tool for interaction between employers and job seekers has become the Population Employment Portal, which operates on the basis of the ministry’s official website.

This online resource provides citizens with broad opportunities to search for vacancies and find employment in their field of specialization in real time.

A dedicated page on the website enables enterprises of all forms of ownership, including state institutions and individual entrepreneurs, to promptly inform citizens about available job openings. Job seekers can independently enter information about their education, work experience, and desired position, thereby creating conditions for the effective selection of suitable employment.

In addition, the website hosts an electronic reporting system through which employers submit information on vacancies and insurance contributions. This significantly simplifies document management and expands the range of available digital services.

An analysis of employer requests shows that at the beginning of 2026 the labor market of Turkmenistan demonstrates demand for specialists in statistics, healthcare, and education, as well as for drivers and laborers. At the same time, there is a growing trend toward increased demand for personnel with specialized knowledge and skills in high-technology sectors.

On the global labor market, according to analysts’ forecasts, leading positions this year will be occupied by IT specialists, software developers, cybersecurity and data professionals, as well as engineers working in the field of renewable energy. In addition, skills in working with artificial intelligence are shifting from the category of additional advantages to becoming mandatory requirements for representatives of most professions.

Basic digital competencies now include the ability to formulate effective prompts for neural networks, the capacity to carry out expert quality control of artificial intelligence outputs, and the skills to seamlessly integrate specialized AI tools into everyday work processes.

There will also remain a high demand for qualified blue-collar occupations in construction and manufacturing, which cannot be fully replaced by automated systems.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Turkmenistan was established in 2011. Specialized labor and employment bodies were formed to improve the employment system in the regions. In cities and etrap centers, events are regularly held at which employers present current job vacancies.

An active investment policy and programmatic transformations implemented in the country in recent years contribute to the annual creation of thousands of new jobs. In parallel, measures are being introduced to increase employment levels, develop productive forces, and systematically improve the regulatory and legal framework in this area.
