Presidents of Turkmenistan and Russia discuss the issues of the bilateral and international agenda over telephone conversation

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

The President of the friendly state once again expressed his condolences to the Turkmen leader over the death of his father, Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov. Noting that the life of M. Berdimuhamedov, who devoted himself to serving the people of Turkmenistan, is an example for the younger generation, the President of the Russian Federation wished the President of Turkmenistan and his family fortitude in this difficult time.

Thanking his Russian colleague for the condolences over the terrible loss, the Turkmen leader underlined that he highly appreciated this and valued the fact that the President of Russia shared pain and sorrow in such difficult days as a true friend.

Congratulating the President of Turkmenistan on the election as the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, the President of the Russian Federation emphasized that this fact served as another confirmation of the nationwide support for the policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The President of the friendly country thanked the Turkmen leader for the active promotion of Turkmen-Russian cooperation, both in bilateral and multilateral formats. In this context, it was noted that the Russian side highly appreciated the participation of a high-ranking Turkmen delegation at the upcoming meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Kazan on April 29-30 as a guest of honour.

Expressing gratitude for the invitation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that a high-ranking delegation, including the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan would participate in the forum. In this regard, the leaders of the two states expressed belief that the upcoming meeting would open up new opportunities for mutually beneficial partnership, both in bilateral and multilateral formats.

Expressing satisfaction with the positive character of cooperation and mutual support in the fight against coronavirus infection, the President of the Russian Federation expressed gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the fact that Turkmenistan was one of the first foreign countries to register antiviral vaccines manufactured in Russia.

The President of the Russian Federation expressed gratitude for the humanitarian aid provided by Turkmenistan.

Thanking for the active position of the Russian Federation in the fight against coronavirus infection and the personal support of President Vladimir Putin in the procurement of Russian vaccines by Turkmenistan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed his conviction that only through joint efforts it would be possible to defeat the pandemic.

During the telephone conversation, the interlocutors underlined that the forthcoming second Caspian Economic Forum, as well as the Summit of the Heads of the Caspian states scheduled for autumn 2021, would provide a good platform for expanding friendly relations between the two countries and in the region as a whole.

Speaking about interstate cooperation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined that traditionally friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation, based on the principles of strategic partnership, trust and mutual understanding, had developed successfully in the widest range of directions.

As noted, the expansion of constructive dialogue with Russia is one of the key vectors of the foreign policy pursued by Turkmenistan. At the same time, special attention was paid to the positive dynamics of developing partnership in trade, economic, energy, cultural, humanitarian and other areas.

In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan's interest in building up a mutually beneficial dialogue with the Russian Federation.

At the end of the telephone conversation, the President of Turkmenistan once again thanked President Vladimir Putin for the words of support, wishing him good health, prosperity and great success, and peace and prosperity to the friendly people of Russia.
