The President of Turkmenistan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan discuss priorities of interstate dialogue

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who arrived in our country on a working visit.

Expressing gratitude for the cordial welcome on the Turkmen land, the guest extended greetings and sincere congratulations on a number of significant events, including the 140th anniversary of the Turkmen capital and the publication of books by the President of Turkmenistan dedicated to Ashgabat and spiritual values of the nation, from President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the President of Turkmenistan.

Thanking for the kind words, the Turkmen leader also conveyed best wishes to the President and friendly people of the neighboring country, expressing satisfaction with the high level of productive cooperation, built on a solid foundation of good neighborly relations.

During the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan exchanged views on the status and prospects for the further development of a multifaceted interstate dialogue in a bilateral and multilateral format, primarily on the platform of major international organizations and authoritative regional structures.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan's commitment to fraternal relations with neighbors in the region, the constructive nature of partnership with which largely determines the favorable political and economic climate in Central Asia.

As emphasized, both countries attach great importance to further strengthening cooperation to address common problems, including the management and rational use of water resources in the region.

Highly appreciating the peace-loving policy pursued by our state and important international initiatives put forward by the Turkmen leader in the interests of global security and sustainable development, A. Kamilov underlined that Uzbekistan would continue supporting proposals of our country, both in the United Nations and other authoritative structures.

Confirming the mutual willingness of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to expand cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, the parties emphasized the importance of creating favorable conditions for building up cooperation in a number of key areas.

It was noted that, with a solid economic potential, the neighboring states intended to diversify mutually beneficial partnerships, built on the principles of trust and consideration of mutual interests. In this regard, it was emphasized the importance of enhancing the activities of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation, as well as regular organization of bilateral meetings at various levels.

In conclusion, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan exchanged good wishes, expressing belief in the progressive development of the interstate dialogue.
