The delegation of the European Union in Turkmenistan, together with the Nature Conservation Society of Turkmenistan, organized a sports and art festival. The purpose of the event was to familiarize new campers with the concept of environmental protection, climate change and social integration.

Together with more than 20 volunteers and 250 children at the Shohle health center, they got acquainted with the concept of material reuse and waste management through an art workshop. So, they created pictures from the remains of textile production, including fabrics and embroidery, dried plants. Volunteers shared examples of environmental protection activities in Europe.

Another group of children took part in a sports marathon - they competed in running, throwing balls, dancing and other sports. The main goal of the marathon was to expand their knowledge of integration and the importance of mutual support for community development.

“Children are our future. Therefore, it is very important to invest in their education from a very early age. Festivals like these help to share knowledge on the very important topic of climate change and social development. We want children to understand that working together in a spirit of solidarity can significantly contribute to protecting the environment,” said EU Ambassador to Turkmenistan Diego Ruiz Alonso.
