26 students in grades 9-11 from the capital and velayats of the country became the winners of the 1st online qualifying round of the VIII International Mathematical Competition "I Solve".

This year, several thousand high school students from 18 countries of the world took part in the competition - this is a record in the entire history of the competition. Its previous seven seasons have traditionally been attended by schoolchildren from Eurasian countries. In the current eighth season, for the first time in the history of the competition, representatives of the USA, Canada, Australia and Angola joined the competition. The Eurasian continent this year was represented by young mathematicians from Russia, Turkmenistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Moldova, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Turkey, Czech Republic, Germany, South Korea.

In the first round, schoolchildren were asked to solve eight tasks within 90 minutes: three with multiple answers and five open-ended. The number of correct answers and the high quality of work was the determining factor for reaching the 2nd round.

“Further on, schoolchildren will have an even more exciting intellectual competition,” note the organizers of the competition, which is held by the Russian investment and industrial holding GS Group in cooperation with the leading educational institutions of Russia.

As emphasized on the website of the competition math.gs-group.com, among the foreign participants in the first round, schoolchildren from Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan were the most active. And based on the rating of the leading foreign cities in terms of the number of contestants who made it to the second round, most of the guys are from the city of Turkmenabat (Lebap velayat, Turkmenistan).

In general, 1000 schoolchildren entered the second round, who these days continue to compete in the knowledge of the "queen of sciences". Here, the tasks, of course, are already more difficult. It is necessary to solve 8 open problems, each of which has a "weight coefficient" that allows the jury members to take into account the level of complexity of the tasks performed when selecting the finalists. In this round, the contestants are given twice as much time - 180 minutes. The results of the second stage will be announced on December 7th.

30 strongest mathematicians will go to the final third round. The final test will take place next year, from January 29 to 30. The winners of the competition will be 10 people - 5 eleventh graders and 5 students in grades 9-10.

Considering that the geography of the mathematical competition this year has crossed the borders of Eurasia, each winner of the competition will rightfully bear the proud title of the best mathematician in the world.
