The Turkmen Agricultural Institute hosted International scientific and practical online conference on the topic "The role of biotechnologies in the sustainable development of the agricultural sector". The international forum was attended by representatives of 84 higher education institutions and research centers from 14 countries.

The conference was opened by the rector of the Turkmen Agricultural Institute, D.Yelov, who addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. During the plenary session of the conference, thematic presentations were made by foreign participants from Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan and Moldova. The international forum continued its work in five sections on the following thematic areas: "Genetic engineering and crop breeding"; "Biotechnologies in animal husbandry"; "Biopesticides and biofertilizers"; "Bioremediation and environmental sustainability"; "Education and capacity building in biotechnology for agriculture".

In total, 260 reports were heard at the conference. The presentations of the most distinguished speakers were noted and discussed at the final meeting of the forum. As part of the scientific and practical conference, an exhibition of scientific research works in the field of the agro-industrial complex was organized at the Turkmen Agricultural Institute.

Summing up the event, the representatives of the organizing committee noted the importance of the conference and stressed that such international meetings play a major role in the development of the agricultural sector on a scientific basis, greatly contribute to strengthening scientific and educational cooperation between universities, as well as friendly relations between the countries of the world.
