Turkmen students win gold at the 5th Youth International Science Fair in Indonesia

Two students from the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan - Suleymanmuhammet Shamuhammedov, a 3rd-year student, and Aymyrat Halnazarov, a 2nd-year student—under the guidance of their university lecturer Atamyrat Altyev, proudly represented their country by winning gold medals at the 5th Youth International Science Fair (YISF), held from February 21 to 25 in Malang, Indonesia.

The representatives of the Turkmen university successfully presented their innovative project titled "Scientific Foundations for Producing Green Cement from Industrial Waste," which received high praise from the jury and earned them well-deserved awards. The Turkmen team won the gold medal, first place, and the honorary title of winner in the "Environmental Science" category as part of the scientific competition held during the Youth International Science Fair.

The gold medal was awarded to the participants from Turkmenistan by the Malaysian Young Scientists Organization (MYSO) for their outstanding achievements in 2025.

For their exceptional scientific work, the talented Turkmen students also received the prestigious "Semi Grand Award" from the Indonesian Young Scientists Association (IYSA).

The participants from Turkmenistan achieved these excellent results in a highly competitive environment among hundreds of top teams of young scientists from around the world. A total of 446 teams from 24 countries showcased their scientific achievements at the 5th International Youth Science Fair.

Participants from Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Austria, China, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, South Africa, Mexico, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Thailand, the UAE, Bangladesh, Iran, Romania, Brazil, Turkey, Singapore, Vietnam, the USA, India, and Malaysia presented innovative scientific projects aimed at solving global challenges such as sustainable development, environmental protection, and advancing new technologies. The young scientists' projects were divided into five categories: social sciences, environmental science, life sciences, innovation science, and engineering.

The Youth International Science Fair is organized annually by the Indonesian Young Scientists Association (IYSA) and serves as an effective platform for studying, developing, and evaluating youth achievements in science, education, technology, and innovation on an international level. It also promotes collaboration and strengthens connections between countries in these fields.

The participation and achievements of Turkmenistan's representatives in this prestigious event are significant for enriching and encouraging the activities of young scientists in the country.

Events of this level highlight the effectiveness of ongoing efforts and Turkmenistan's commitment to comprehensive development and improvement of its national science and education system—one of the state's key priorities.
