On March 18, the IV Open International Internet Olympiad in the discipline "Strength of Materials" was held at the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute among students of higher educational institutions from Turkmenistan and abroad.
A total of 895 talented students from 117 universities across 18 countries participated in the Olympiad, including students from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Iran, Australia, the USA, Fiji, China, Malaysia, Pakistan, Romania, Turkiye, and Uganda.
B. Mammedov, rector of the Turkmen State Architecture and ConstructionInstitute, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, wishing them great success and outstanding achievements in this intellectual competition.
The Olympiad was held online in Turkmen, English, and Russian as an individual competition. Participants were tasked with solving six problems within 120 minutes. The jury panel included professors and lecturers from both Turkmen and foreign universities.
To mark this significant international event, an exhibition was organized at the capital's university. It showcased the scientific research and project work of the faculty and students of the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute. Foreign guests were presented with a variety of scientific projects developed by representatives of the Turkmen university. Among them was a project for a new complex of buildings for the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute, planned to open in September 2026.
During the event, it was emphasized that holding such Olympiads significantly contributes to strengthening and expanding collaboration between universities and scientific centers in Turkmenistan and abroad. It also stimulates and encourages young people's interest in studying sciences, identifies talented and capable youth passionate about scientific research and solving complex problems, creates favorable conditions for the intellectual and professional development of future specialists, and prepares modern high-level engineering and technical personnel.
The Olympiad was organized in accordance with plans to implement the Concept for the Development of the Digital Education System in Turkmenistan as well as initiatives to include the country's universities in the list of leading higher educational institutions at an international level.
