The Turkmen State Publishing Service, on the recommendation of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, has published the textbook «Literature» for 12 grades with Russian as the language of instruction in comprehensive secondary schools in the country.
The textbook was prepared by the authors T. Hojamedova, T. Panisheva, I. Goncharenko, A. Hachatryan, E. Gudratullayeva. It includes such sections as «Literature of the 1930s», «The Great Patriotic War in the Works of Turkmen Poets», «Features of the Development of Poetry and Prose in the 1950s-70s», «Literature of the Last Decades of the 20th Century», «Literature of Independent Turkmenistan», «Foreign Literature».
The authors of the textbook proposed their own approach to structuring the educational material and the sequence of its study. Seven sections are arranged in the textbook in chronological order from the literature of the 1930s to modern literature. The order of the chapters is determined by the monographic principle: each chapter is devoted to an overview of the writers' work. Each section ends with a chapter on the literature of Turkmenistan of the corresponding period, which very organically gives an idea of the literary process as a whole.
The textbook includes a variety of questions for self-assessment, tasks for individual and group work, which are aimed at developing creative abilities and independent work skills. Both the content part (materials) and the methodological part (the system of questions and tasks) are equally important components of the textbook, aimed at an effective process of studying and mastering the discipline.
The textbook is written in accordance with the approved State Program for Literature for the 12th grade of comprehensive schools of Turkmenistan. The main goal of the publication is to introduce the younger generation to literature, develop literate speech and creative thinking.
The preparation and publication of the new textbook is another important step in the implementation of the «Concept for Improving the Methodology of Teaching General Education Programs in Turkmenistan until 2028», which necessitated a new approach to updating the structure and content of the entire educational process, creating new curricula, textbooks and teaching aids, improving and modernising their content, and introducing interactive teaching methods.
