The feature film "Magtymguly Pyragy" of joint Turkmen-Uzbek production received an award at the prestigious International Film Festival of the Eurasian Creative Guild (ECG Film Festival 2025) in London. The film was awarded in the nomination "Audience Award".
The large-scale project implemented by the Uzbek Cinematography Agency and the “Turkmenfilm” Association named after Oguzkhan has become a vivid example of deepening cooperation in the field of cinematography, symbolizing the strengthening of traditional bonds of friendship and brotherhood between peoples.
Director Muzaffarkhon Erkinov masterfully conveyed the atmosphere of poetic contests and everyday life of that time. The filming took place in the historical sites of Bukhara and Khiva. The natural scenery and impressive performance of Turkmen actors Akhmet Amandurdiyev, who played the role of Makhtumkuli, and People's Artist of Turkmenistan Chary Berdiyev as the poet's father Dovletmammad Azadi were highly appreciated by the jury and the audience.
In the fall of 2024, the film won the main award at the IV Gorkut Ata International Film Festival in Ashgabat in the nomination "Best Feature Film". Director Muzaffarkhon Erkinov and People's Artist of Turkmenistan Chary Berdiev were awarded commemorative statuettes.
Based on high spiritual values, rich cultural heritage and humanistic ideas, the film also found a response among foreign audiences.
The new film "Kitap" from "Turkmenfilm" named after Oguzkhan will be shown in Bishkek. The film by director Hekim Alovov will take part in the III International Film Festival, which will be held from June 11 to 15. Participation in the festival highlights the growing potential of Turkmen cinema and its important role in the cultural exchange of the region.
