On the eve of the most eagerly awaited winter holiday, a concert by Takhir Atayev’s String Orchestra took place at the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theater.

A New Year’s fairy tale greeted guests already in the theater foyer. The originally decorated space — a cozy fireplace, festively adorned Christmas trees, and sparkling snowflakes — created a strong sense of the approaching celebration.

Before the concert began, the conductor congratulated the audience, emphasizing that it is best to welcome the New Year in a good mood and with songs that we all love and remember from childhood.

Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Selbi Annadurdyyeva, along with the talented performers Bahar Durdyyeva and Arslan Aganiyazov, gifted the audience an unforgettable musical atmosphere by performing heartfelt Christmas and New Year songs. Particularly touching were the performances by the children’s and adult choirs. Saxophonist Shirhan Batyrov delighted the audience with his bright and virtuosic renditions of well-known musical compositions.

The program featured “Last Christmas,” “Happy New Year,” “Jingle Bells,” and other beloved melodies. A whirl of joy accompanied “Три белых коня,” “Кабы не было зимы,” and “Звенит январская вьюга.” The composition “Опять метель” added a note of gentle melancholy. The audience responded with especially enthusiastic applause to the song from the film “Ivan Vasilievich Changes Profession” — “A Conversation with Happiness.”

The most exciting moment was the song “Пять минут” from the film “Carnival Night”. During its performance, the sound of New Year party poppers rang out, awakening even those who had dozed off cozily by the festive glow.

The pre-New Year concert was a great success. The audience applauded generously and thanked the artists. For many admirers of the ensemble, such warm and intimate evenings have become a cherished tradition.
