The Turkmen carpet is one of the brightest masterpieces of the national heritage of our people, rooted in ancient times. Turkmen carpets, distinguished by their beauty, grace, strength and durability, reflecting the uniqueness of the national culture and the glorious history of the people, our beautiful nature and the spiritual world of Turkmen women, arouse sincere admiration from everyone.
It is particularly proud that after Turkmenistan gained independence, especially in the era of the Rebirth of a new era of a powerful state, thanks to the efforts of Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar, the Turkmen carpet art rose to new heights of development.
Turkmen carpet weaving originated thanks to the talent and diligence of skilled artisans, whose hands created authentic masterpieces. Passed down from generation to generation, it has come down to us as an invaluable cultural heritage and has now become an integral part of world culture. The decision to include the national art of carpet weaving in the representative list of the intangible cultural heritage of mankind, adopted during the 14th session of the Intergovernmental committee for the protection of the intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO on the 12th of December, 2019, is evidence of the high global appreciation of the national heritage of the Turkmen people and the centuries-old work of skilled carpet makers.
One of the leading collectives making a worthy contribution to the development of Turkmen carpet art and meeting the demand of the population for magnificent carpets is the Halach artistic carpet-making enterprise. It was established back in 1959. Since carpets are woven in almost every home in the Halach etrap, and mentoring traditions are passed down from generation to generation, it was not difficult at that time to find craftsmen with golden hands for this large enterprise. The glorious success of the Halach artistic carpet-making enterprise is worthily continued by modern artisans.
A vivid proof of this is the fact that dozens of craftsmen who have been awarded the honorary title «Honoured carpet worker of Turkmenistan» and other state awards by the Decrees of the President of Turkmenistan work as part of the workforce. Every year, the company achieves high results, which is a consequence of a well-coordinated work organisation. Since the beginning of this year, 1,993 square meters of carpets and carpet products have been woven here, which is 129 square meters more than in the same period last year. The production growth rate was about 107%.
It should be noted that the company conducts continuous creative searches. As a result, along with the use of ancient ornaments, new patterns are being created that reflect the spirit of the current happy era, the rapid development of the country and the day-by-day changing appearance of the Motherland. In addition to carpets of standard sizes, the company creates carpets of large sizes, round and trapezoidal. Hurjuns, women's handbags, «gapylyks» (carpet curtains for the doorway), etc. are also woven here.
