Within the framework of the Days of Iranian Culture in Turkmenistan, the National Music and Drama Theatre hosted a concert of two musical groups involved in folklore: «Runak» and «Chiksai».

Folk stage art is the soul of the people, conveying the mentality of their ancestors, national customs, costumes, folk prowess and the ability to have fun with all their hearts. It is a kind of ethnographic museum, which carefully preserves in its repertoire old folk songs accompanied by ancient musical instruments.

Turkmenistan and Iran are two friendly states that are geographically adjacent to each other. The Days of Iranian Culture in Turkmenistan is a good occasion to share with your friend and neighbour the art originating from the origins of the nation.

From the very first note of their performance, the artists of the «Runak» group enchanted the audience, charging the audience with their powerful energy. Bright shiny costumes, national musical instruments, including the wineskin, which makes a dull, languid sound, and most importantly, the beautiful voices of the performers will be remembered by the Ashgabat audience for a long time.

The dancers of the group «Chiksai» performed two choreographic compositions. Their performance gave an idea to the public about the village way of life, where the population walked in self-sewn shoes with turned up toes and multi-colored leggings, about how rural men worked in the field, how they had fun riding horses, how they were friends with each other. All this was told in the language of dance.

Ashgabat audience warmly welcomed foreign folklorists. They supported the singers and dancers in their performances with friendly applause, which created a very friendly atmosphere in the hall. Guests from Iran, representing the national art of their people, found a response in the friendly hearts of their Turkmen brothers, and this was the main goal in holding the Days of Iranian Culture in Turkmenistan.
