Ashgabat admirers of circus art knew long ago that artists from the Great Moscow Circus on Vernadsky Avenue and the Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard came to us, as well as that the guests took part in the solemn presentation of the new city of Arkadag. Now their wonderful performances are successfully held in the arena of the Turkmen State Circus with a full house.
The performance opens with an exciting number of gymnasts-tightrope walkers Ekaterina Svezhova and Valery Svezhov. Their mesmerizing tricks, Catherine's twine under the circus dome, as well as Valery's planned fall and upside–down movement on the rope, were incredible. The audience greeted their performance with a flurry of applause.
Bairam Agayev and his bear cub were on the arena. This bear cub precisely followed all the trainer's commands, and at the end, apparently tired, sat down in a chair, putting his paw behind his paw.
In response to the question asked backstage: "You have a Turkmen name and surname, how did you get into the Moscow circus?", Bairam replied that he had been obsessed with the circus since childhood and in 1972, at the age of 13, he went to Moscow to enroll in a circus school, but he graduated from the circus studio and toured as an eccentric juggler for a number of years, until one day, helping an employee, he began to take care of a bear. That was when he sensed his potential in dealing with the predator and changed his specialty to animal trainer in 1986. In 2012, he came to Ashgabat with the bear cub named Funtik.
And again the space under the dome of the circus was occupied by aerial gymnast Alena Tsvetkova. The gymnast's appearance was interesting. Alena appeared in the arena in a red dress in the style of oversize, which suddenly went up on its own. And the fact that it was not a mistake, but the idea of the director of the number was evidenced by the fact that Alena appeared in another, even better outfit. The gymnast freely soared under the dome like a bird, delighting the audience with her tricks.
The performances of magicians Victoria Khil and Nikolai Spir were not for the faint-hearted. Nikolai placed his partner in one illusion apparatus, and she was in another. He pierced the girl with daggers and sabers, but every time she was unharmed. No wonder their number is called "Illusion". According to Nikolai, they made the illusion apparatuses themselves and have been performing this shocking number for 20 years.
The artists' performances came one after another, surprising and delighting the audience. And yet every spectator was waiting impatiently for the performance of Rostislav Gavriliev, a fearless trainer of lions and tigers. And, finally, the moment came. Striped predators one after another came to the arena and took their places on the bollards. All five tigers performed the traditional number - a jump through the burning ring. There was an incident: two tigers got into a scuffle, but they were quickly separated. And then there was a very tender trick - "hugs and kisses". Rostislav hugged and kissed each of the tigers, and they, in turn, kissed him, demonstrating mutual affection.
The King of beasts took the highest place – a visor on the gate to the arena and watched everything happening from above. When the striped predators left the arena, he allowed Rostislav to give him an African massage, lie on him, and also ruffle his lush mane, of course, with kisses.
The lion, nicknamed Ing, is 6 years old. He is young and in good physical shape. It is felt that he is a favorite in the friendly family of Rostislav and predators. Rostislav Gavriliev is one of the hereditary trainers. From childhood, he has been accustomed to caring for predators and builds his relationship with them on mutual love.
The clowns - Andrei Zhigalov and Oleg von Suvorov - staged a parade of circus orchestra musicians through the circus stands. The joke was a success, and many spectators sang along to familiar tunes.
The show ended with the performance of the equestrian-sports group "Galkynysh" led by Honored Worker of Culture of Turkmenistan Pygy Bairamdurdyev, as well as the performance of the Turkmen folk dance kushtdepti and hit parade of all participants of this unforgettable event.
