By September 1, celebrating the Day of Knowledge and Student Youth, the Museum of Fine Arts traditionally launched an exhibition of paintings and sculptures by Turkmen artists dedicated to this topic. Among the exhibited works there are many iconic works that are well known to frequent visitors of the museum, without which the exhibition could not have become so impressive.

Among such works is the "Book Bazaar" by the People's Artist of Turkmenistan Izzat Klychev. There is a lot of sunshine, kindness, joyful emotions in the painting, and again, people are drawn to culture, knowledge, spirituality by buying books. This unique canvas is one of the best works of the luminary of Turkmen painting, to whom this year the Turkmen people will celebrate the 100th anniversary of his birth.

September 1 is a particularly exciting holiday for children who cross the threshold of school for the first time. From that moment on, they become much older. One of the famous paintings dedicated to first–graders is the work "September 1" by People's Artist of Turkmenistan Evgenia Adamova. This picture subtly conveys the psychological situation that younger children experience in different ways, looking at the beautiful school uniform and the brand-new schoolbag of the older sister, but joy in the family still prevails over temporary resentment.

About how eagerly schoolchildren wait for the beginning of the school year depicted in the film "Tomorrow to school" by Peter Tativosov. A girl with a radiant look, unable to hide her joy, has already packed a briefcase, ironed her school uniform and is now smoothing out the folds on a white festive apron. If only tomorrow would come sooner!

The painting by Bayram Khojammayev "Students take the exam" conveys a tense moment in the life of young people. Boys and girls involuntarily worry in front of the door, behind which their knowledge is evaluated by the teacher. Looking at them, one wants to wish good luck and a happy ticket.

It is difficult for today's children to imagine that once everything was not like that. A reminder of this is in the painting by the People's Artist of Turkmenistan Aykhan Hajiev "The First Teacher", which depicts a young enthusiast carrying school supplies for children of remote villages on a camel through the red sands of the Karakum desert. The teacher does not feel the heat, his thoughts are occupied with the organization of the school, the desire to teach children to read and write. He does not even know that he is performing a feat, he just honestly does his job. And it is not clear where he gets the strength to do it.

The enlighteners have always been treated with deep respect by the people. In the sculpture of small forms Ovezdurdy Ovezov presented at the exhibition the figure of Mollanepes, whose name entered the Turkmen culture as one of the enlighteners of the XIX century. An interesting installation "On the threshold of the Temple of Knowledge" was presented by the sculptor D. Babayev. One of the pages of the open book is made in the form of an oriental temple, the door to this temple was opened by a barefoot young man who is attracted by knowledge, but it is not so easy to master them.

On September 1, students traditionally present bouquets of flowers to teachers in all schools. Therefore, flowers are integral to the holiday of knowledge. From the presented paintings in the genre of floristry, the most impressive, in our opinion, is the work of Nikolai Ershov "Lilac". Executed with relief layers of paint, the work seems to enliven the lilac flowers.

The exhibition, which still has many wonderful paintings, turned out to be interesting and informative not only for schoolchildren and students, but also for all admirer of painting.
