The theatrical production "Eternal Legends" by students of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture (TSIC) opened the festival program of the VII International Festival of Puppet Theaters "Chodari Khayol", which is taking place these days in Dushanbe.
The guests and participants of the festival were pleased to attend an unusual performance, where they got acquainted with the fabulous story embodied on the theater stage based on the books of the Hero-Arkadag.
Wise sayings, folk legends and parables from the books "Worshipping Mother – Worshipping a Sacred Person", "Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road" and "Turkmen Alabay" in the original stage embodiment demonstrated the culture and traditions of the Turkmen people to the foreign public.
The unusual thing about the performance is that all the actors work on stage in complete darkness. And the magic effect is given to the action by a special paint applied to the scenery and props, which glows under the influence of ultraviolet light.
A neon desert emerges from the darkness of the stage space. Caravans of camels are slowly walking along the luminous dunes, and in the sky full of stars, one can dream of the imminent realization of the most daring dreams.
According to Ilyas Durdyev, director of the play, teacher of the Department of Acting and Stage Speech of the TSIC, the actors are required to pay special attention and be able to feel their partner on the stage even in complete darkness.
The staging is verified to the smallest detail – from the correct level of holding the puppet to the transforming scenery. The main goal of the actors is to revive their characters, turning a theatrical performance into a fascinating animated film.
And judging by the applause in the hall, the student production of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture was accepted with a bang!
The festival of Puppet Theaters "Chodari Khayol" will last until October 29. Following the results of the review, all participants will receive diplomas and memorable gifts. In addition to Turkmenistan, theater groups from Tajikistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Iran are represented at the international venue.
