An exhibition of tourism and applied arts of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran has opened in the Exhibition Hall of the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan.
The exhibition showcases unique items of traditional folk crafts, handmade artistic products, national heritage, and contemporary directions of Turkmen and Iranian art masters.
On the occasion of the opening of this specialized exhibition, representatives of tourism organizations of our country discussed with their Iranian colleagues prospects for cooperation.
Turkmenistan and Iran share common cultural and historical roots, as well as a common border. Both countries have numerous historical monuments that are attractive for tourists to visit.
For example, in the province of Gulistan, Iran, in the village of Aktokay (White Forest), there are graves of Magtymguly Pyragy and his father - Dovletmammet Azadi, a Turkmen poet and scientist.
Due to the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great thinker and poet of the East Magtymguly in 2024, representatives of tourism companies of two countries have discussed the possibility of organizing pilgrimage trips to the ancient burial place.
In addition, it was noted during the meeting that there are close cultural exchanges between Turkmenistan and Iran.
For instance, Days of Culture of the Islamic Republic of Iran were held in Ashgabat in February. The Days of Culture of Turkmenistan are planned to be held in the city of Isfahan in November this year.
During the opening ceremony of the tourism exhibition, Mahmoud Sadeghi, the Deputy Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan, expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, for created opportunities for cultural events.
