At the State Museum of the State Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan, a conference entitled «The beauty of the Turkmen land in the poetry of Magtymguly» was held, organized by the State Museum with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the National Trade Union Centre of Turkmenistan. The speakers read poems to the conference participants, in which the poet glorified the beauty of his native land.

As part of the conference, an exhibition was launched dedicated to the title of this year - «The Fount of wisdom Magtymguly Fragi». The exhibition began with a unique exhibit - a carpet on which the text of the poem «Türkmeniň» is woven. In this famous work in nine quatrains, Magtymguly shares his dreams of a prosperous and happy life for the Turkmen people.

There are many interesting exhibits at the exhibition. For example, the family tree of Magtymguly, starting with his great-great-grandfather Dovletmamet Molla. Several generations of blood relatives to this day have made up the poet's genealogy. Next to this exhibit is a map of Magtymguly’s travels around the world.

In the centre of the unique exhibits is a plaster sculpture of Magtymguly by People's Artist of Turkmenistan Saragt Babayev. The sculptor depicted the poet seated privately in a beautiful pose with a long scroll on his lap.

Behind the statue, in one of the display cases, there are reproductions of Magtymguly’s original manuscripts written in Farsi. Here are translations of poems into the Turkmen language. The originals of Magtymguly's manuscripts, as particularly valuable exhibits, are kept in the storage facilities of the Institute of Manuscripts.

And, perhaps, one of the most important showcases at the exhibition are collections of Magtymguly’s poems translated into different languages of the world.

The organizers of the exhibition took a multifaceted approach to telling the story of Magtymguly’s life and work. Among the numerous portraits of the poet, the canonical portrait of Magtymguly, created in 1947 by Ayhan Hajyyev, is presented. One of the expositions of the exhibition is dedicated to Magtymguly’s comrades - the classical poets Kemine, Seydi, Mollanepes, Zelili. An interesting composition from plaster «Seydi and Zelili» was made by sculptor Velmyrat Jumayev.

The organizers of the exhibition did not lose sight of the beauty of the area where Magtymguly was born and raised. Sometimes it is called the pomegranate region, as well as the region of the Moon Mountains. Artists often refer in their works to the ancestral village of Gerkez. The thematic carpets and paintings presented at the exhibition, conveying the unique beauty of the Magtymguly etrap, are also a mention of the poet, who was surrounded by this beauty and often praised it in his poems.

Exhibits that tell about the great poet, selected by museum staff, help visitors get in touch with the sensations that Magtymguly once experienced. The exhibition excites, delights and once again makes us proud of our famous compatriot.
