The fourth meeting of the Coordination Committee of the Organization of Turkic States was held in Istanbul with the participation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Türkiye, the International Turkic Academy, the International Organization of Turkic Culture and the International Foundation for Turkic Culture and Heritage.
At the meeting, the results of the work of these organizations in the past year were summed up and the activity programs for 2024 were considered, including the events of the Turkic World Week, which are planned to be held in Geneva.
Speaking at the meeting, TURKSOY General Secretary Sultan Rayev said that in 2024 the organization plans to hold about 150 events in more than 15 countries. In expanding cultural interaction, an important place is given to events that are planned to be organized jointly with Turkmenistan. Reminding that the Permanent Council of TURKSOY declared 2024 the Year of Magtymguly Pragy, Sultan Rayev invited each of the organizations represented at the meeting to take part in various events organized within the framework of the Year of Magtymguly Fragi and support them.
It was also noted that the city of Anev in Turkmenistan became the cultural capital of the Turkic world this year. Therefore, many TURKSOY events, including traditional ones, will be held in Turkmenistan. According to Sultan Rayev, the organization takes on the significant task of popularizing the cultural values of Turkmenistan throughout the world under the auspices of the cultural capital of the Turkic world.
The head of TURKSOY mentioned in his speech his intention to celebrate Novruz this year in a more colorful and large-scale manner, as well as various projects dedicated to the creativity and heritage of the leaders of the Turkic world, the implementation of joint productions in the field of opera, theater and cinema between the member countries of the organization, and support for young artists and the youth movement of the Turkic world. As part of the tours planned for this year, it is planned to introduce art lovers to the TURKSOY youth orchestra, choir and folk instruments orchestra.
