An exhibition of works by teachers of the Turkmen State Art School opened at the Exhibition Centre of the Union of Artists. In this creative educational institution, gifted youth of our country, who have chosen the profession of an artist, gain professional skills. Therefore, the future of Turkmen fine arts largely depends on who their teachers are.
Among the works assigned by the teachers, in addition to paintings, jewelry and small sculptures are exhibited. Most of the paintings are painted on a historical theme; as a rule, these are large-sized paintings made in the style of realism. These include «Alisher Novai at Sultan Soyun Baykara» by Guncha Myradova, «Blockville before Govshutkhan» by Gurban Babatajev, «Margiana» by Toyly Chopanov. Such work requires great skill and knowledge of the history of one's people. These are excellent teaching aids for college students.
Many teachers turn in their works to the theme of the Great Silk Road, in which they very clearly reveal the characters and the atmosphere of the bazaars. One of these works is «The Merchant» by Toyly Chopanov. The artist depicted on the canvas a charismatic merchant selling intellectual goods - books.
Brutal nobility is visible in the faces in the portraits «Portrait of an Old Man» by Gurban Babajanov, «Mirab» and «In the Field» by Toyly Chopanov. On the one hand, the authors noted facial features characteristic of Turkmens, on the other, the portraits are endowed with psychological overtones.
The painting «Along the Old Path» by Amanmuhammet Ashyrgeldiyev leaves a huge impression. It depicts Yashuly walking along a road that no one has walked on for a long time; here even the tree has dried up from old age and loneliness. But Yashuli stubbornly does not want to walk on the asphalt; he remains true to his old habits.
A very handsome musician is depicted in the painting «The Musician» by Lachyn Toylyyeva, made in the style of oriental miniature. Lachyn endowed her hero with love and humour.
Among the sculptural works, the works of Seljuk Yarmamedov «Sweet Dream», «Secrets of the Ocean» and the bust of the poet Kayum Tangrygulyyev, as well as the works of Charymyrat Amanov «Resentment» and «Magtymguly» stand out.
Visitors to the exhibition were also pleased with the works of jewellers who presented elegant jewellery made of silver and gold plated. Students of the school, as well as famous singers - Atageldi Garyagdyyev, Atajan Berdiyev, Begench Mosyyev and others, came to the opening of the exhibition to support their teachers, staging a mini-concert at the exhibition site.
