The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirzayev signed a Resolution on widespread celebration in the country of the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet and philosopher Magtymguly Fragi. The document says that the great son of the Turkmen people, the outstanding poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi occupies a special place in the history of literature and culture not only of the Turkic peoples, but also of the whole world.
As noted in the Resolution, «Uzbekistan is recognized as one of the countries where Magtymguly works are the most published and read, and this is not accidental. There is no home in our country in which the poems of the classical poet and the songs created on their basis would not be heard, and, perhaps, there is not an Uzbek who does not know them. Over the past centuries, Magtymguly has become our people’s own poet. His poems with deep philosophy, national spirit, high artistry, which inspired bagshy and hafiz, poets and storytellers, always sound on our stages and continue to live in the hearts of the people».
In order to clearly demonstrate the respect of the Uzbek people for Magtymguly Fragi and in his person for the fraternal people of Turkmenistan, its rich history and culture, customs and traditions, as well as a worthy celebration of the 300th anniversary of the poet’s birth, the composition of the organizing committee for the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly was approved Fragi is headed by the Prime Minister of the country, who is tasked with approving within two weeks the Program of Events for the high-level celebration of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi.
The Program will include a number of activities, including: preparation for printing and publication of «Selected Works» of Magtymguly Fragi, as well as collections of scientific articles dedicated to his life and creative work; creation of a feature film dedicated to Magtymguly Fragi, with the cooperation of filmmakers from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan on the basis of a state order; staging a play about the life and creative work of the poet; holding a republican competition among young performers «The best performer of songs based on Magtymguly poetry»; organization in the Central Exhibition Hall of the Academy of Arts of an exhibition of works of fine art glorifying the bonds of friendship and brotherhood of the Uzbek and Turkmen peoples; holding in Khiva an international scientific conference «The role of Magtymguly creativity in Uzbek literature and art» with the cooperation of the Academy of Sciences, the Union of the Writers, the hokimiyat of the horezm region, and other relevant ministries and departments; organization of meetings, literary evenings with the participation of famous poets, writers and scientists in higher and secondary specialized, professional, secondary educational organizations, military units, labor collectives and mahallas of the country; holding a creative evening dedicated to the memory of Magtymguly Fragi in October 2024 at the State Academic Пкфтв Theatre of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Novayi.
