The organizing committee of the 8th Moscow International Festival of Arts "Sounds of Dutar" named after Nury Halmamedov announced the start of accepting applications for the "Reflection" contest of illustration of Eastern poetry.
The creative contest, held under the auspices of the Russian Academy of Arts in honor of the anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, whose 300th anniversary of birth is included in the UNESCO List of Memorable Dates for 2024-2025, aims to attract a wide range of children and youth.
The goal of the contest is to popularize Eastern poetry, the works of Magtymguly Fragi as a prominent representative of Turkmen national literature, and the reflection of Eastern culture in Russian poetry. Both amateur and professional works created in two forms of fine art - painting and graphics - are accepted for participation.
The application submission period is from March 1, 2024, until August 1, inclusive.
Those wishing to participate in the contest must send their application to the email address: festival.sounds-of-dutar@mail.ru within the specified timeframe. The contest consists of two rounds in the following categories: "Artistic interpretation of the works of Magtymguly Fragi and other great poets of the East (illustrations)", "The artistic image of Magtymguly Fragi: history and modernity", "Artistic interpretation of the works of Russian poets about the East (illustrations)".
The works that pass to the second round will be exhibited, as part of the All-Russian event "Night of the Arts" of the Russian Academy of Arts, in the Center for Eastern Literature of the Russian State Library. In addition, the illustrations of the finalists will be published in a commemorative album.
The winners of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes will receive diplomas, albums with published works and commemorative souvenirs. The announcement of the contest results and the award ceremony will take place at the Russian Academy of Arts on November 3.
