In an interview with the head of the Turkish news channel «TRT Haber», the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov named among the priorities of multifaceted interaction between the countries of the Turkic world the wide popularization in the world of Turkic culture, the rich historical, cultural and humanitarian heritage of their peoples, the achievements of Turkic writers, musicians, artists and filmmakers.
In this context, an excellent opportunity is provided by this year’s celebration of the 300th anniversary of the great poet and philosopher Magtymguly Fragi, an outstanding son of the Turkmen people and at the same time a representative of the Turkic world, who glorified in his works such enduring values and traits of the Turkic peoples as patriotism, loyalty to the family hearth, respect for traditions and customs, military valour and integrity.
Saying that this significant date is celebrated very solemnly in the Turkic states, the National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized that Turkmenistan highly appreciates this and is grateful to the governments for their support, as well as the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) for the decision to declare 2024 the year of Magtymguly Fragi.
At a meeting in a narrow format within the framework of the 15th meeting of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States, Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reminded that the motto of 2024 in Turkmenistan is «The Fount of the Wisdom Magtymguly Fragi» and expressed confidence that the current meeting will be a significant step in the matter popularizing the work of Magtymguly Fragi in the world and strengthening the bonds of friendship and brotherhood of the Turkic peoples.
Noting that the invaluable heritage of Magtymguly Fragi occupies a large place in the hearts of people, the National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized that the work of the classical poet made a significant contribution to the cultural and spiritual development of not only the Turkmen and Turkic peoples, but also all peoples of the East, becoming an integral part of the treasury world literature.
This year, Turkmenistan plans, together with partner states and international organizations, to hold a set of national and international level events aimed at expanding cultural and humanitarian interaction, which is one of the key vectors of international relations.
