On March 21, 2024, a cultural event dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and philosopher Magtymguly Fragi took place in the city of Maisons-Laffite. The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in France. About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan.
The event brought together city residents, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, members of the “Destan” and “France-Turkmenistan” associations, which contribute to the promotion of Turkmen culture in France and the development of cultural cooperation between the countries.
In his speech, the mayor of Maisons-Laffite, J.Myard, emphasized the importance of the Declaration of Friendship between the cities of Maisons-Laffitte and Arkadag, signed last September, and the contribution of cultural events to strengthening interethnic dialogue and enriching public life.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to France M.Charyev spoke about the life and work of Magtymguly Fragi, emphasizing his great importance for the Turkmen people and noting the universality of his ideas and values proclaimed in the works of the poet, and their relevance in the modern world.
The event program included a concert by an ensemble from the city of Arkadag, which performed folk melodies and songs based on Magtymguly’s poems, a reading of the poet’s poems in French by the artist Théophile Choquet, as well as an exhibition of national elements, translations of the works of the great poet into French and books by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to the mayor of the city for his support and assistance in organizing the event, which not only became a bright event in the cultural life of the city, but also contributed to the further strengthening of friendly ties and cooperation between Turkmenistan and France, demonstrating an example of successful intercultural exchange and mutual respect.
