Filming of a documentary film dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly will take place in India

Filmmakers of the «Turkmenfilm» Association named after Oguzhan are preparing a series of documentaries for the 300th anniversary of the classical poet and philosopher Magtymguly Fragi, which have already been filmed in Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and the Astrakhan region of Russia.

From 7th to 14th of April, a creative group led by the director of the «Turkmenfilm» film studio, Sahysalyh Bayramov, will shoot a new documentary film about the great humanist poet in India. The creative concept, based on the idea of the connection between the past and the present and the enduring value of Magtymguly’s work, and the script of the film, including artistic elements, were prepared by Rahymberdi Annagulyev.

Filming will be carried out in places associated with the Turkmens and their great sons - the poets Magtymguly and Bayram Han, the guardian and mentor of Akbar, the ruler of the Mughal Empire. Among them are the Turkmen Gate in New Delhi, built in the 17th century in honor of Turkmen warriors, as well as other famous monuments in India.

The film is planned to include episodes filmed at the National Library of India, interviews with scientists from Indian universities studying the creative heritage of Magtymguly, and interesting scenes related to Turkmen and Indian culture. The through-line poetic outline of the film will be the poems of the great Turkmen classical poet, in which India is often mentioned. The film will also feature a poem dedicated to Magtymguly by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the lines of which became the motto of 2024.
