A delegation of scientists from the Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts named after Magtymguly of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, headed by the President of the Academy of Sciences Allaberdi Ashyrov, visited Baku, where they took part in events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the outstanding poet and philosopher of the East Magtymguly Fragi, and discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral ties in scientific -educational sphere.
At the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fizuli of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Turkmen scientists were told about the valuable manuscripts of «Magtymguly Fragi» stored in the Institute’s fund and about the history of their discovery. Members of the delegation were also invited to the opening ceremony of the Centre for Turkmen Literature named after «Magtymguly Fragi» at the Institute of Literature of ANAS named after Nizami Ganjavi, which took place with the participation of the President of the Academy of Sciences Allaberdi Ashyrov, the President of ANAS Isa Habibbeyli, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan Gurbanmammet Ilyasov, Azerbaijani scientists, writers, poets, teachers, students and media representatives.
In his speech at the ceremony, the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, emphasized that the opening of such a centre is a historical event, opening a new page in the scientific and literary cooperation of the two fraternal peoples. The participants of the celebration got acquainted with books about the life and creative heritage of «Magtymguly», his portraits and information about the cultural and park complex «Magtymguly Fragi», which was opened on the 17th of May in Ashgabat, the central part of which is a 60-meter sculpture of the great poet and philosopher.
A book exhibition was organized for the participants of the event, at which books by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, as well as various publications about the history, literature and art, and national values of the Turkmen people were presented. A presentation of the book «Magtymguly», published in Turkmenistan in three languages, which included selected works of the great Turkmen poet, took place here. As a gift to the Turkmen people in the year of celebrating the 300th anniversary of their great son, a presentation of two new books by Azerbaijani authors - «Magtymguly Fragi». «Poems by senior researcher at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature Ismihan Osmanli and «Vagzy-Azat: Yesterday, Today, Tomorow» by the famous historian and publicist Temur Atayev, dedicated to Dovletmammet Azady.
At the subsequent international scientific conference «The Great Turkmen Poet Magtymguly Fragi and Azerbaijan», the heads of the national academies of sciences of the two countries, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan noted that the work of the Turkmen classic and humanist philosopher is widely studied and promoted not only in the two fraternal countries, but also worldwide. This was confirmed by Turkmen and Azerbaijani scientists who spoke at the conference.
On the 30th of May, members of the Turkmen delegation took part in the Day of Turkmenistan held as part of the «III Festival of Literature and Books of the Turkic World», at which People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Gulyanag Mamedova performed songs based on the words of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The current state and prospects of Turkmen-Azerbaijani cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere were discussed during negotiations between the President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan Allaberdi Ashyrov and the President of ANAS Isa Habibbeyli and the Rector of Baku State University Elchin Babayev. At the meeting with the teaching staff and students of this university, a presentation of the books of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov «Youth - the support of the Motherland» and «Anev - culture from the depths of millennia» also took place. The meeting participants were told about the content and significance of these books, which testify to the great attention of the head of state to youth policy and the importance of declaring the ancient Turkmen city of Anev as the capital of the Turkic world in 2024 for the popularization of the historical and cultural heritage of Turkmenistan.
