The 2nd Bishkek International Film Festival will be held in Kyrgyzstan from June 11 to 15.
The competition program of the Central Asian contest will feature 11 films by filmmakers from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
The Oguzhan Turkmenfilm Association will present Sakhysalykh Bayramov's film "Daragt" ("The Tree of Destiny") at the Bishkek venue. A multiple participant and winner of international film festivals, the Turkmen director's film is well-deservedly loved by audiences.
The film's cast includes young actors, as well as honored and people's artists of Turkmenistan. The main roles are played by Shemshat Kasymova, Turan Gurbanova, Aydogdy Sopyev, Yolaman Nurymov, Mukhammetguly Kasymov and Oguljakhan Kuliyeva.
The participation of "Daragt" in the festival's competition program will provide guests and participants of the film forum with an opportunity to get acquainted with the culture, history, and heritage of the Turkmen people.
Screenings of Central Asian films will take place at the Broadway Cinema (Asia Mall). Admission to the film screenings is free.
This year’s festival, organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Bishkek City Hall, is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Oblast.
It is expected that around 200 filmmakers from 26 countries will attend the film event. Various master classes and a pitching session (presentation of a film project to attract investments) with a prize fund will be held as part of the film festival.
