On 15 October 2024, the International Institute of Central Asia in the city of Tashkent hosted a scientific symposium «Literary and political-philosophical heritage of Magtymguly Fragi», dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Great Thinker of the East and classic of Turkmen literature Magtymguly Fragi. The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan and the International Institute of Central Asia.
The scientific symposium was attended by heads of the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, the Scientific Centre for Strategic Studies of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, heads of the ministries and departments of the Republic of Uzbekistan, heads and representatives of the foreign diplomatic missions, socio-political and scientific organizations, students, representatives of Turkmen diaspora and mass media.
Speakers at the scientific symposium noted that the poet's creative heritage is an important bridge for expanding intercultural ties and bringing countries and peoples closer together. They also marked the interconnection of languages and literatures of the peoples of the East and the role of the poet's works in educating young people in the spirit of patriotism and peacemaking.
During the scientific symposium, it was also noted that in Uzbekistan, in accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan «On the broad celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi», literary evenings, contests, conferences and other thematic events are held. Theaters are staging plays, Turkmen and Uzbek filmmakers have made a joint feature film about the life and work of the great poet. Monuments to Magtymguly Fragi have been elevated in Tashkent and Khiva.
In addition, the participants of the event emphasized the presentation to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of a collection of selected works by Magtymguly Fragi translated into Uzbek as a sign of friendship and special respect for the people of Turkmenistan.
An exhibition on the life and work of Magtymguly Fragi, a classic of Turkmen literature, was also organized as part of the scientific symposium.
