The  International Film Festival “Gorkut ata” Has Completed in Turkmenistan

Today, the closing ceremony of the 4th International Film Festival “Gorkut ata” took place in the Palace of Mukams of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan.

The cultural event united representatives of the cinematography of the Turkic states on the hospitable Turkmen land, becoming a vivid embodiment of the inviolability of the ideals of peace, goodness and creation, laid down in the very initiative of holding the festival.

The third day of the film forum began with a visit to the National Museum of the Turkmen Carpet – a true temple of the heritage of spiritual and material culture, a treasury of hundreds of unique rarities, in which the entire history of our people is captured in the language of ornamental symbols. 

Then, the participants of the International Film Festival in the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of the country got acquainted with exhibits representing the past and present of the Turkmen, as well as with the work that is being carried out in our Motherland in order to preserve the cultural and spiritual heritage of the nation, its original traditions, being an integral part of the history of the people.

On the final day, an excursion to the Magtymguly Pyragy Cultural and Park Complex was also organized for the guests.

In the afternoon, the award ceremony for the winners of the International Film Festival was held in the Palace of Mukams of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan.

The celebration was preceded by the song “Dünýä dursun parahat!” which became a reflection of the broad support for the creative initiatives of Turkmenistan aimed at peace and good neighborliness.

Then, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Rayev entered the scene to present awards in the nomination “For Contribution to Turkic Culture”.

The “Crane” statuette was awarded to the stage master of the Main Academic Drama Theater named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi the Great, People’s Artist of Turkmenistan N. Allaberdiyev.

Also, for their contribution to Turkic culture, awards were received by the deputy director of the film directing department of the Kazakhfilm studio S. Tekeyev, the artist of the Kyrgyz Republic A. Nazarkulova, the producer-director of the Nilay Production company (Turkiye) E. Konuk and the chairman of the cinematography agency under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. Rizayev. 

The cinematographer-mentor M. Musayev from the Kyrgyz Republic was granted a special award of the International Organization TURKSOY.

Then, the documentary films – nominees of the International Film Festival “Gorkut ata” were presented to the participants of the ceremony. 

In the nomination “Best Documentary Film”, the creative team of the film “Şemalyň başlaýan ýeri” from Kazakhstan won the 3rd place, “Waweyla” from Turkiye won the 2nd place, and the creative team of the film “Äleme belgilidir”, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, filmed in Turkmenistan and in foreign countries by the Oguzkhan Türkmenfilm Association, won the 1st place.

The “Crane” statuette was also awarded to documentary films – “Monisto” from Bashkortostan (RF) and “Sag baryp, aman gaýdanlar” from Uzbekistan.

Then the audience is introduced to the feature films that participated in the competition program of the festival.

The award for the best female role in the film is presented by the film director from Kyrgyzstan J. Ozbekova to the highest category artist of the Main Academic Drama Theater named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi the Great D. Melyayeva, who performed in the film “Kompozitor”.

In the nomination “Best Male Role”, the artist A. Jelal, who played in the film series “Kuruluş Osman” (Turkiye), presents the award to the artist of theater and cinema of the Republic of Kazakhstan D. Urazayev, who starred in the film “Beýik sähranyň daňy”.

In the nomination “Best Screenplay”, the creative team of the film “Ýalňyşlyk 404” (Kyrgyzstan) is awarded. The award is presented by the artist of the company “Nilay Production” (Turkiye) A. Choban. 

In the nomination “Best Director”, the chairman of the Kyrgyzfilm agency A.Bekbolotov presents the award to the film director of the film “Doktor Sadik Ahmet” Y. Hakan (Turkiye).

Then the winners in the nomination “Best Feature Film” are invited to the stage.

The award in this nomination is received by the creative team of the film “Magtymguly Pyragy”, jointly filmed by filmmakers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

The “Crane” statuettes are received by the director of the film “Magtymguly Pyragy” M. Erkinov (Uzbekistan) and People’s Artist of Turkmenistan Ch. Berdiev.

This film, shot under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, became a unique gift for the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great classic of the East, Magtymguly Fragi, and is a clear evidence of the expanding Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation in cinematography.

The creation of a joint biographical film by Turkmen and Uzbek filmmakers about the brilliant master of words, whose life and work are of lasting significance, is a vivid symbol of the strengthening of the traditional bonds of friendship and brotherhood of our peoples.

A special jury prize is awarded to the creative team of the film “Kompozitor” of the Association “Türkmenfilm” named after Oguzkhan.

It should be noted that the film “Kompozitor” of the Türkmenfilm Association named after Oguzkhan was created thanks to the support of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care, with the direct assistance of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Hero-Arkadag. 

Participants of the “Gorkut ata” International Film Festival, held with the participation of representatives of the Turkic states, adopted a thankful Address to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in which they expressed deep gratitude for the great concern for the development of the sphere of national culture, the creation of all conditions for fruitful work.

The film festival featured wonderful films created by masters of cinematography from different countries. These fascinating and interesting films left an unforgettable impression on everyone.

A powerful final chord of the celebration was a song performed by all participants of the festive event, which became a symbol of friendship of the Turkic peoples.
