One of the national treasures of the Turkmen people, recognized as part of the heritage of all humankind, is the Turkmen Alabay. Today, extensive work is being carried out in Turkmenistan to study the national heritage—including the history of the Turkmen Alabays—preserve the purity of the breed, and promote their worldwide fame through various public events.
A vivid example of these efforts is the establishment of the International Association "Türkmen alabaý itleri" ("Turkmen Alabays") in our country, the construction and commissioning of modern centers for the breed in the velayats, as well as the annual celebration of Turkmen Alabay Day on the last Sunday of October, which is observed at the international level. The scale of these events—which highlight the intelligence, strength, loyalty, and nobility of the Alabay—demonstrates the deep respect for our national heritage.

A creative art contest titled "Türkmen alabaýy – milli mirasymyz we buýsanjymyz" ("The Turkmen Alabay – Our National Heritage and Pride") and the exhibition "Waspy dünýäni jadylan türkmen alabaýy" ("The Turkmen Alabay Whose Fame Enchanted the World") were recently organized by the Lebap velayat Museum of History and Local Lore in cooperation with the velayat specialized art school and the Turkmenabat City Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan. These events became a fitting tribute to Turkmen Alabay Day.
The exhibition's opening ceremony, attended by representatives from the velayat’s cultural and educational sectors, public organizations, teachers, and students of the specialized art school of the velayat, featured an impressive atmosphere. Insightful speeches were delivered about the national legacy created by our ancestors over centuries, the role of Turkmen Alabays, and the advancement of dog breeding art in our country.

Visitors viewed paintings and graphic works showcasing the beauty and distinctive traits of Turkmen Alabays, as well as their loyalty to their owners. A jury then selected the winners of the art competition based on the pieces displayed at the exhibition.
As a result, fourth-year and second-year students of the painting department at the velayaat specialized art school—Adylhan Sheripov (with the work “The Desert is the Alabay’s Homeland”) and Jennet Kuvatgeldiyeva (“Alabay”)—took first place. Second place went to students of the same department Ayna Rejepova (“Alabay”) and Ayjemal Sherbayeva (“Alabay – The World of the Amu Darya”), while third place was awarded to Byagul Bazarova (“An Example of Loyalty”) and Gozel Hojaniyazova (“My Loyal Alabay”).

The winners and prize recipients were also awarded Certificates of Honor and received valuable gifts.
