The grand opening of the gallery of People's Artist of Turkmenistan Babasary Annamyradov took place in Ashgabat. On the day of the opening, public interest was so intense that the cozy courtyard, once part of his studio and now transformed into a unique creative space, instantly filled up.

Guests were greeted by sculptures created by the artist himself. Among these works, it was easy to recognise images of prominent figures who are part of Turkmen cultural heritage.

Renowned artists, fellow artists—painters and sculptors—and friends and family members gathered to share the joy of the opening and congratulate Babasary Annamyradov. The artist himself barely had time to accept the numerous bouquets of flowers.

The ceremony was filled with warm reminiscences from colleagues about the beginning of his creative journey, poems, and words of gratitude. Everyone was eager to see works of Babasary inside, as well as his collection, which, as we know, continues to grow with new exhibits.

The restored two-story gallery building encompasses all facets of the creative life of artist. The first floor displays works of Babasary Annamyradov, while the second floor features his extensive art collection and an exhibition of folk crafts.

Babasary Annamyradov is an iconic figure in the cultural life of country. A People's Artist of Turkmenistan, he holds a doctorate from the State academy of arts and an honorary foreign member of the Russian academy of arts.

For many years, the artist headed the Union of Artists of Turkmenistan and made a significant contribution to the development, preservation, and enhancement of national cultural traditions. His easel sculptures, revealing the moral worldview of the Turkmen people, occupy a worthy place in state museums across the country and in private collections around the world.

In one of his interviews, Babasary Annamyradov once confessed his dream of opening a mini-museum of the first private collection of country and donating the works of art he and his wife had collected to the state. Today, it is safe to say that his dream has come true.
