The development of science and education, the introduction of modern scientific achievements and technologies into the economy, the enhancement of scientific and research potential, and the bringing of the national system of science and education to the level of global development are the most important goals of the Turkmen state.
The country is confidently following the course of improving the national education system. The main task is always the training of highly qualified young professionals with innovative thinking and the necessary professional skills, and the education of a well-rounded young people with great scientific potential and a broad outlook.
Turkmenistan highly appreciates the aspirations of young people for development, stimulates and generously encourages their research activities, creates all conditions for conducting fundamental and applied scientific research, expanding their range, realizing the scientific and intellectual potential of young talents. At the same time, the material and technical base of specialized institutions and universities is steadily being strengthened, and modern information and communication technologies are being widely introduced into their activities.
The large-scale work carried out to reform the national education and science system is bearing fruit, demonstrating high efficiency and consistent achievement of set goals.
This was discussed during an expanded Cabinet meeting. The Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, which reviewed the results of 2024 and the long-term objectives of the country's socio-economic development for 2025.
As noted, the reform of the education system continued last year, advanced teaching methods were widely used, digital education was developed, textbooks and manuals were published, and electronic journals were established. In addition, the "Concept for improving the teaching methods of general education programs in Turkmenistan until 2028" was approved.
In 2024, Turkmen universities were included in the lists of leading international rankings, which once again demonstrated the success of their multifaceted and active activities. Scientific project competitions, scientific and practical conferences, state and international Olympiads were held at a high level in the country.
A high indicator of the rapid development of science and education in the country were the victories of Turkmen schoolchildren and students in prestigious international competitions, as a result of which they won 1,549 medals of various merits.
The effectiveness of scientific research in Turkmenistan has significantly increased over the past year, and the "Strategy for the Development of science in Turkmenistan for 2024-2052" has been approved.
During the government meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated the need to further improve the activities of educational institutions in order to create high conditions for children to receive modern education, discover and develop talents and abilities among the younger generation. The importance of the work was noted, It is aimed at updating curricula, programs and textbooks in accordance with international practice, systematically improving the skills of teachers of secondary and higher educational schools, and strengthening their material and technical base.
The Head of State also stressed that scientific research should be continued in order to transform our Fatherland into a state that is progressively developing on a scientific basis and, in this context, to increase international cooperation.
