As part of the development of international cooperation in the field of higher education, an online meeting was held between representatives of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, leading universities of the country and the University of St Andrews (UK).
Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the International University for Humanities and Development, and the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the UK took part in the event from Turkmenistan.
From the British side, the meeting was attended by Professor Matteo Fumagalli and Professor Filippo Costa Buranelli, international cooperation specialists at the School of International Relations at the University of St Andrews.
The main goal of the meeting was to discuss the prospects for academic cooperation between higher education institutions of Turkmenistan and the University of St Andrews. The participants considered the possibilities of implementing exchange programs for students and teachers, joint scientific research and publications, as well as developing educational initiatives and participation in international academic events.
During the meeting, issues of developing educational programs, online courses and scientific research were discussed. Turkmen speakers noted priority areas for the development of higher education in the country and priority tasks in this area. Representatives of the University of St Andrews confirmed their readiness to implement bilateral educational and scientific initiatives.
The parties expressed mutual interest in expanding academic cooperation, identified key areas of partnership and outlined further steps for the implementation of joint projects.
Following the meeting, the participants emphasized that the development of partnership between universities of Turkmenistan and the UK will facilitate the exchange of knowledge, the development of scientific potential and the training of qualified specialists.
