Kara Seytliev: The Poetic Encyclopedia of Turkmenistan
People’s Writer of Turkmenistan Kara Seytliev (1915-1971) can be deservedly named a legendary figure. His versatile oeuvre greatly influenced the development of national literature, cinema and theater. Most of the poet’s poems were put to music by Turkmen composers and continue to be remembered and celebrated fifty years after his death.

ArtIst Theater Presents New Production
“Mother, what a story – oh, my goodness!” This is the opening line of a new production of ‘Father Caught in the Net’ which has been staged by the Ashgabat-based ArtIst Theater. It is based on the comedy play ‘Run for Your Wife’ by the English playwright Ray Cooney.

Artist Tamara Kiselyova: The Palette of Life
Tamara Kiselyova celebrated her 85th birthday with her friends, who gathered at the Museum of Fine Arts to wish the artist a happy birthday and see her solo exhibition featuring new works. Among them were art experts Azat Annaev and Oba Mukhatov, artists Saparmammed Meredov, Babasary Annamuradov, Natalia Kalugina, Lyudmila Ulakina, and many adoring fans.

New Additions to the National Register of Cultural Heritage Sites
Twenty previously unknown historical and cultural monuments identified in Mary Velayat have been listed on the National Register of Cultural Heritage Sites. They certainly pale in comparison with the monumental grandeur of the Mausoleum of Sultan Sanjar or the impressive walled Timurid-era city in the Merv oasis – Abdullakhan-kala. For the most part, these are either small, hardly noticeable hills or remains of mud-brick walls. Not easily detected when first glimpsed, they were discovered during regular archeological explorations carried out by research workers of the Ancient Merv Historical and Cultural Park.

Names in Turkmen Art: Yakub Annanurov
Five years ago, ahead of the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence, a number of prominent figures, who had contributed greatly to strengthening our home country’s sovereignty, were posthumously decorated with the Watana Bolan Söýgüsi Üçin Medal (the Medal for the Love for the Fatherland) by a Ukase of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Among them was Magtymguly State Award recipient, People’s Artist of Turkmenistan Yakub Annanurov.
