A competition entitled «A Beautiful Flower»
According to a Turkmen tradition: if passers-by encounter felt makers on their way they should have a look at a felt mat and say: “A beautiful pattern”. A usual reply to this is “A beautiful flower”. The Public Organizations Center has hosted an annual felting competition entitled ‘A Beautiful Flower’. The competition was organized by the Central Council of the Union of Women of Turkmenistan in partnership with trade-union organizations to mark the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence and 2021 designated as ‘Turkmenistan: A Land of Peace and Trust’.

The Dutar: The Soul of Turkmens
The dutar, which literally translates as ‘two strings’, is an integral part of the Turkmen nation’s centuries-old music. No celebration, be it a wedding or a public holiday, is complete without performances by folk musicians (bagshis).

The first Viennese Ball in Ashgabat: Ten years later
Ten years ago, ahead of the milestone of 20 years of Turkmenistan’s independence, Ashgabat hosted the first Viennese ball, one of the most outstanding and spectacular events of the anniversary year. A proud tradition in Austria, but entirely new to Turkmenistan, the ball was initiated by the Austrian-Turkmen Society in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan. The Austrian capital has been renowned for its lavish balls for several centuries. Following in its footsteps, the celebration of music, waltz and elegance is now held in many other cities around the world. The Viennese ball has been inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Takhir Ataev's Orchestra: Vivaldi + Richter
The concert of the string orchestra of Takhir Atayev took place at a full house on the stage of the Vatan cinema and concert center. This time the musicians delighted the audience with the cycle "The Four Seasons" by Antonio Vivaldi in the philosophical version of Max Richter.

Bulgakov: experiment, hoax and everything else
On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the birth of Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov, the immersive performance “Bulgakov”, prepared by the actors of the “ARTist” theater, was held with great success at the Russian House at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan. The performance includes bright fragments from three of the most famous works by Mikhail Bulgakov: "Heart of a Dog", "Zoykina's Apartment" and "The Master and Margarita".

Antonio Vivaldi will sound like Richter
Musical genius of the Baroque era, Italian composer and violin virtuoso Antonio Vivaldi left more than 40 magnificent operas, oratorios, cantatas, instrumental concerts to descendants. One of his most famous works is the Seasons cycle, composed in 1725.

The mausoleum of Turabek-khanym is considered a masterpiece of architecture and mosaic art. The architectural monument is especially striking with a high and light six-sided hall with an area of about 100 square meters, the walls of which are abundantly decorated with colored mosaics.

Concert on occasion of Kurban Bayram in Ashgabat
A festive concert in honor of Kurban Bayram will take place in Ashgabat on July 20-21. The concert will take place at the Watan Cinema and Concert Hall on July 20th at 19:00. Famous Turkmen singers - Eldar Ahmedov, Jeyhun Atajikov, Berdy Chovdurbaev and Rejepmuhammet Hodjamuhammedov will take part in the concert. Other famous Turkmen artists - Rahman Hudayberdyev, Govher Hadjimuradova and Mekan Rejepov will perform a concert at the Watan Cinema and Concert Hall on July 21 at 19:00. The concert program will include popular songs.

UNESCO World Heritage Committee opens in China
After a one-year hiatus, the 44th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, opens on July 16 in Fuzhou, the capital of the eastern Chinese province of Fujian. The session will continue online until 31 July, combining ongoing work and issues remaining unresolved from last year. The enlarged session will be chaired by Mr. Tian Xuejun, Deputy Minister of Education of China and Director of China's National Commission for UNESCO. The session will consider a total of 45 candidates for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
